MISSION STATEMENT:
The mission of the Coburn United Methodist
Church is to make disciples through our intentional hospitality, our
passionate
worship, our faith forming relationships and our risk taking service to
others.
Our Ministry Goal
Coburn Church is a small part of the total
church family we call United Methodist and even a smaller part of the total body
of Christ. The 1992 edition of the Book of Discipline of the United Methodist
Church states that "a local church is a community of true believers under the
Lordship of Christ. It is the redemptive fellowship in which the Word of God is
preached by persons divinely called, and the Sacraments are duly administered
according to Christ's own appointment. Under the discipline of the Holy Spirit,
the Church exists for the maintenance of worship, the edification of believers
and the redemption of the world." (Paragraph 201)
OUR CORE VALUES: We believe that our core values as a church are found in the
words of Jesus when he said: "Let anyone who is thirsty come to me, and let the
one who believes in me drink. As the scripture has said, 'Out of the believer's
heart shall flow rivers of living water.'" (John 7:37-38). As disciples of Jesus
Christ we want to be fountains of LIVING WATERS! As that fountain we believe
that we should have the core values of Living WATERS flowing within us. Those
values are Welcoming, Adoring, Transforming, Equipping, Reaching & Serving. We
want these values to be in us, throughout us and flowing from us. Let us pray
that God will bless us with the Holy Spirit’s Living WATERS!
