The Coburn United Methodist Church, Goodwill Industries,
Inc.,
WHIZ and Barnes Advertising team up to GO GREEN!!!
WHAT: Community Recycling Event
WHEN: Saturday, June 12th, 9am-1pm
WHERE: Coburn United Methodist Church (Parking Lot)
Goodwill Industries, Inc. and Coburn United Methodist Church, with help from
business sponsors WHIZ Media Group, and Barnes Advertising, have joined forces
for a “Recycle Event” on Saturday, June 12, from 9:00 AM. to 1:00 PM. The event
will take place at the Coburn United Methodist Church located at 3618 Maple
Ave. (Across from Colony Square Mall) in
Zanesville. GO GREEN! gives everyone in the community an
opportunity to recycle paper, cardboard, old computer equipment, small
appliances, plastics, and metals, essentially saving them from landfills.
Workers and volunteers will be present to take recyclables in a “drive-thru”
setting, so there will be no need to even leave the car! We invite
everyone in the community to drop by on Saturday, June 12, leave your
recyclables and GO GREEN!
As a ministry Go Green! is an effort to teach us to care for God’s creation! It
reminds us, that while we are a consumer society, that we have a responsibility
to give back and be sure that our resources are not wasted, but rather continue
in a stream of re-use that protects our environment, preserves our resources,
and keeps our consumables out of the landfills.
Go Green! Is also an important partnership of community organizations and
businesses to make our community a better place. It is important that the
church team with organizations like Goodwill and businesses to work together for
community improvement and to build a better life. The Coburn United Methodist
Church and her partners take great pride in sharing in this important event that
invites the whole community to build a better place for all.
Last year Go Green! collected over 6,548 pounds of aluminum, plastics, paper,
corrugate, magazines, and metals from the community. Besides saving these items
from landfills, these items helped to provide job opportunities through Goodwill
Industries as well as revenue for the work of Goodwill Industries in our
community.
Go Green! is part of ongoing recycling efforts by both Goodwill Industries and
the Coburn United Methodist Church. Goodwill Industries provides recycling at
its Maple Ave. location year round and the Coburn United Methodist Church
provides for year round recycling of paper, aluminum and computer ink
cartridges.
